Things You'll Find in New Zealand

As of yesterday, I have one full month left in New Zealand and then 11 days in Australia (before I come back here for 6 hours and leave to go back to Australia and then home…. -_-) Here are some fun things you’ll find in New Zealand.

One of the most notable being the use of an adjective, followed by the word “as”, as if to compare something to another thing, but never saying what. This is most commonly used with “sweet as”, but also can be used with anything. (e.g. “hot as”, “cute as”, “crazy as”, and so on and so forth)

I will never get used to being asked “how are you going?” It’s a crazy mutant combination of asking me how I’m doing and where I’m going and I’m always struck dead when asked. I stare dumbly as I try to gather my thoughts. Every time.

Among a lot of other fun slang terms. I also am baffled by what people find appropriate to refrigerate and what not to. My flatmates put apples in the fridge and leave eggs in the cupboard.

Anyway, I haven’t blogged in a while and I figured I’d address some fun things. I’m headed off to Hamilton and Hobbiton this weekend. I’m going down south again for a few days in early June and then am headed Australia, then it’s back to the States!
