Saying Farewell to Wellington
After landing back in Wellington at 12am, I had 6 hours to get back to the Cube, have dinner, see everyone, finish packing, and get back to the airport and onto my plane.
I grabbed Burgerfuel for one last time and got Deirdre, Morgan, Kristine, Claire, Meg, Carolin, and Emily to come to my flat and hangout for a bit while I finished packing up. It was a great last hoorah before Morgan and I headed back to the airport at 3:15am.
We headed back to Brisbane at 6am, despite having just came from there a few hours prior. Our flight to LA was delayed 2.5 hours. We got to LAX after a 12.5 hour flight. Morgan took off and I waited for my flight to Salt Lake City. Upon trying to board, I was told that I wasn’t on the flight anymore and that it was full. I booked that flight in November. They told me to go to the Detroit gate. Detroit told me I wasn’t on that flight, either and that I need to go to Minneapolis at 12:30. It was 12:48. They told me to talk to customer service, who said I was supposed to go to Detroit, but couldn’t because they closed the gate. They booked me on another airline directly to Chicago, where I had to wait for my bags, since THEY flew Delta to Salt Lake City. I was picked up by my mom, aunt, and Kate and headed home for the first time in four and a half months!
My time in New Zealand was absolutely amazing. That is a country I plan to return to many times to continue to adventure. Nothing there is boring. EVERYTHING is beautiful. The friends I made will last a lifetime and I am so thankful for the opportunity to go.
Adventure is out there.
