San Diego Comic-Con 2014
Alright, I’m back for a second. I just flew out West for a week with my friend Heather. We spent a day and a half in Vegas before driving out to San Diego for Comic-Con!
Vegas, even though I drove through it last year, shocked me for being this random magnificent city LITERALLY in the middle of the desert with nothing else around it in any direction. It proved to be miserably hot in the middle of July. The highest I saw was 115°F. We wandered the strip the first day while picking up a drink here and there (most of them in the glorified oversized souvenir cups <3). I gambled a whole $3 at the Bellagio. I lasted quite a while, actually. We stayed at Excalibur which was surprisingly enormous (much like most of the casinos).
The next day we hung out by the pool, dying of heat. The pool felt great! We left that afternoon for San Diego.
Comic-Con started on Thursday. We walked the exhibit hall floor for several hours and headed back home early so that we could get back by 9pm for Friday’s panels. Which we literally waited in line for for about 13 hours. So worth it though! We saw the panels for the Animation Show of Shows, the Last of Us, the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Horns and Everly, and 20th Century Fox. This was a star-studded day with the casts of both TWD and GoT, as well as people including Daniel Radcliffe, Christina Applegate, Samuel L. Jackson, Zachary Quinto, Channing Tatum, and many others.
I got to ask the GoT panel a question during their Q&A about male nudity in the show, which was amazing.
We took Saturday off from the Con (didn’t have badges) and went to La Jolla for lunch at my favorite Mexican place, Alfonso’s. We laid on the beach for a bit after that.
We went back to the Con on Sunday to make all of our purchases and take a last look at the exhibit hall. I also hung out with my friend Korrin that goes every year for a bit.
Monday we spent the day in Coronado at the beach and we took off on Tuesday for home!
